Some stories aren't about leaving. They're about what comes after.
For much of my life, the path in front of me appeared already written.
I was raised in a Hasidic community, married through an arranged marriage at eighteen, and became the mother of ten children. Faith, family, womanhood, marriage, sexuality, education, and belonging all came with clearly defined expectations.
Eventually, I began questioning who had the authority to decide what my life should be. Leaving my marriage and, later, the religious community that had shaped nearly everything I knew opened possibilities I had never imagined. It also brought losses I could never have imagined.
My life today contains both.
Freedom and grief. Love and estrangement. Spirituality and doubt. Reinvention and the persistent pull of where I came from.
That tension is where much of my writing lives.
THE MEMOIR
MOREDET
The Rebellious Wife
MOREDET is a memoir about marriage, motherhood, religious authority, and the cost of becoming the author of your own life.
Raised in a Hasidic community and married at eighteen, I became a mother of ten within a world where a woman’s roles were deeply prescribed. MOREDET traces the unraveling of those certainties—and the complicated journey through questioning, leaving, loss, and rebuilding.
The title comes from the Hebrew word for a “rebellious wife”—a woman who refuses the obligations expected of her within marriage. For me, it became something larger: a name for the moment obedience gave way to self-determination.
